Young Learners (Birth to 4)

WIDA Learning Language Every Day: Activities for Families These printable activity sheets for young learners and their parents are designed to start conversations with children about their family, what they like to play, how they feel, what sounds they hear in their home or community, and the weather. The resources are available in English, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese.

CDCs Milestone tracker app

CDC Developmental Milestones and Milestone Tracker (kids birth -5 years old) Skills like smiling for the first time and learning to talk and walk are called developmental milestones. Read more and watch videos to learn about child development and recognize the milestones your child should be making at different ages. See activities that you can do to promote development of different skills and learn what to do if you have concerns.

CDC Parenting Videos (toddlers and preschoolers) Select a short video to watch to learn strategies and get tips on a wide range of parenting topics like: communicating with your child, creating structure and rules and giving directions.

PBS Parents Help your Children Learn and Grow-select from a variety of topics such as literacy, math, science, emotions and social skills to get ideas about how to help your child learn and grow in these areas.

Elementary (Grades K - 5)

ParentPowered Back to School Resources Ready4K has produced two resources to help address back to school anxiety. They are available in English and Spanish.

Colorín Colorado Colorín Colorado (CC) is a national multimedia project that provides bilingual, research-based information, activities, and advice for educators and families of English language learners (ELLs).

    • CC Learning Together At Home: Math Math is everywhere! When you measure an ingredient for a recipe, tell time, pay a bill, or look at the daily temperature, you are using math. These activities offer ideas on how to make math fun at home and start building some math skills that kids will use as they get older.

National PTA Our Children Magazine for Parents As stated on the National PTA’s website, “Today’s PTA is dedicated to empowering parents to make a difference in the education, health, and safety of America’s children.”

General Resources for Parents

Parent and Family Digital Learning Guide The U.S. Department of Education (USDE) resource, "Parent and Family Digital Learning Guide" will inform you, as a parent or caregiver, as you monitor your child’s progress as your child accesses and uses technology for learning. This guide aims to help all parents and caregivers, including those who have limited experience with digital tools, those who are experts with digital tools, and anywhere in between. Each section starts with foundational pieces and builds from there to help parents and guardians understand how digital tools can provide tailored learning opportunities, engage students with course materials, encourage creative expression, and enrich the educational experience. The Guide is available in English and Spanish.

Instructions for accessing Google applications, video chat programs and education platforms. Need help with technology? These sites provide information and demonstrations in English and Spanish for setting up a gmail address, participating in video chats, accessing local student systems like Powerschool and ParentVUE and more.
